Jastrow, Marcus

(1829-1903)
   American rabbi and philologist. He was born in Rogasen, in the Posen district. After serving as preacher to the progressive German congregation in Warsaw, he became a rabbi in Worms. In 1866 he emigrated to the US and was appointed rabbi at Rodeph Shalom in Philadelphia. His publications include Dictionary of the Targumim, the Talmud Babli and Yerushalmi, and the Midrashic Literature.
